Please let your reps in congress know that you support public education and more money for teachers!!! We are in grave danger of losing our public education system in America unless everyday people like you and I let our legislators know that we want our tax money going to support public education.

Mary, my favorite teacher was my eighth grade science teacher, Ashby Milstead. I loved him because he was funny and warm and genuine. He made science interesting -- and that was not an easy thing to do with me. I would have preferred diagramming sentences and studying Latin! And he encouraged all of us students to defend our beliefs and positions. You won't believe this, but I remember arguing about the science behind the age of the earth and when dinosaurs lived and how to reconcile that with the bible! And I wasn't even religious!
